My Philosophy

Have you ever felt butterflies in your stomach when you are excited or nervous? Or maybe muscle tension when you have been stressed? This is because our minds and bodies are connected. You can’t separate one from the other. In order to achieve optimal wellness, peak productivity, and peace, it is important to recognize and enhance this connection.

My training in physical therapy, yoga, meditation, clinical hypnosis, and nutrition has helped me see how critical this connection is – and how often it’s overlooked! It is often the mind’s relation to the body that is overlooked. I have clearly seen how much of a difference it makes for my clients when they integrate both their mind and body for wellness.  They feel calmer, are more productive, and improve their physical and mental health.

Meditation

Meditation is desperately needed in our society right now! It is actually considered a “meta skill”, a skill that enhances other skills, so it helps in many areas of our life. Meditation is vital to any wellness plan to counteract daily stressors, promote relaxation, increase focus, and enhance physical and well-being.  Audio recording are given of the customized, guided meditation sessions for home practice.

Hands On Healing

Myofascial Release and Craniosacral Therapy are both gentle, light touch therapies. Myofascial Release releases restrictions in the fascia, which is the connective tissue that permeates the whole body. Craniosacral Therapy works on the craniosacral system, which extends from the skull to the sacrum. This system is encased within the fascial system, and therefore craniosacral therapy is complementary to Myofascial Release. They both are great toosl for relieving pain, restoring function, and increasing energy.

Physical Therapy

Integrative Physical Therapy incorporates the WHOLE person as you are more than just your diagnosis or injury! Everything is connected and multiple factors plays a part in your unique situation. In addition to a comprehensive evaluation, a thorough home program, and exercise prescription, some of the types of therapies used are: myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, and therapeutic yoga.

Therapeutic Yoga

Therapeutic yoga is the combination of breathwork, awareness, meditation, and physical postures that are modified for people of all capacities. The yoga postures are often adapted with various props, such as bolster, straps, blocks, blankets, chairs, and the wall.  They can range from gentle and restorative to dynamic and active, depending on the individual. Some of the benefits of yoga are increased strength, flexibility, and balance, improved posture, and enhanced breathing and energy, and increased calmness.

Holistic Nutrition

Food really is medicine, and what you eat can help you flourish or hinder you. It is not about the calories we consume, it is more about the quality of our foods, decreasing inflammation, reducing toxins, and providing us with an ample supply of nutrients. Holistic nutrition services are offered with the powerful gut-brain connection in mind. So not only looking at what you eat, but using tools such as meditation and clinical hypnosis to help the gut. There is actually a researched back hypnosis protocol for chronic GI issues that is very helpful.

Clinical Hypnosis

Clinical Hypnosis is not the same things as “stage hypnosis”, which is used for entertainment purposes. Clinical hypnosis is using a state of focused attention and internal absorption in a therapeutic way, in line with your goals. In working with me, those goals would be enhanced relaxation, assistance in making positive lifestyle changes (such as with nutrition or exercise), and reduction of chronic pain.  All hypnosis is self hypnosis, so you are in control the whole time. Audio recordings are given of the hypnosis sessions for home practice.
